Dr. Jean Jacques Mbonigaba Muhinda holds a PhD Degree in Agriculture Sciences and Biological Engineering from Gembloux Agriculture University (Belgium), with specialization in soil chemistry and soil microbiology. He has over 20-years’ experience in agriculture development, research, technology transfer and academia. During the last decade, he was charged with the following responsibilities: AGRA’s Regional Manager for East Africa (current position), Executive Director of the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA, Sept 2018 to April 2021); Strategic Advisor and Senior Consultant to the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) in areas of Country Support and Policy Engagement; Director General of the Rwanda Agriculture Development Board (RAB); Chairman of the Rwanda National Irrigation and Mechanization Task Force; Professor and Vice-Dean for Research and Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Agriculture, National University of Rwanda; Senior Consultant for international organizations such as AGRA, FAO & WFP (2016-2017). He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) for a period of three years. Professor Muhinda speaks fluently both English, French and Swahili.
