Mr. Abdoulaye Ka is a public health and social development specialist with over 20 years of experience with maternal and child health and nutrition programming for governmental and non-governmental organizations in Senegal. He is presently a Senior Health Specialist at the World Bank. Before joining the World Bank, Abdoulaye Ka was the Executive Secretary at the National Council for Nutrition Development – General Secretary, Government of Senegal and project coordinator of successive (and successful) World Bank investment operations. He has led a team that orchestrated Senegal’s nutrition policy reforms including the creation of the National Nutrition Coordination Committee (CLM) in 2001, the National Council for Nutrition Development in 2020 and the national nutrition program (PRN). Abdoulaye has overseen: (i) the establishment of an efficient and inclusive decentralized community-based delivery system of proven high impact and cost-effective interventions through local governments, reaching 80% of the child population ; (ii) the diversification of funding sources for national nutrition programs including the national budget; and (iii) the participatory development of an inclusive multisectoral nutrition policy and strategic plan that includes the mainstreaming of nutrition in the different sectors. At the global level, Abdoulaye also acted as an ardent champion for nutrition and has been an active member of the SUN Movement Executive Committee.
